Every finalist earns an overall score out of 100, built from five weighted criteria. Scores are editorial judgments based on published specifications and verified owner-review sentiment, not laboratory measurements, unless a named test source is cited on the page.
How the score is built
- Performance — up to 30 points. How well the product does its core job, from specs and owner feedback.
- Comfort and usability — up to 20 points. Ease of use, setup, fit and everyday practicality.
- Durability — up to 20 points. Build quality, materials, warranty and long-term owner reports.
- Features — up to 15 points. Useful capabilities versus the category standard.
- Value — up to 10 points. What you get for the price relative to rivals.
We also give each list a small set of badges, such as Best Overall, Best Budget or Best for Small Spaces, so you can scan quickly. A badge reflects our research judgment for a specific need, not a claim that we physically tested the product.
Owner reviews
Where we reference owner sentiment we look across more than one retailer, weight recent reviews more heavily, and note common complaints rather than only positives. We do not publish precise review counts unless that data was actually collected.
